Here at HomeTownNotes we love to highlight the history, people and businesses in upstate NY. Thrift stores hold a treasure trove of history, and adventure. Scouting around for postcards, local ephemera and unexpected treasures are a common occurrence.

Stay tuned to our YouTube channel and this space if you like to see local items and where we found them.

March is Not Thrift Friendly

The cold, damp sleepiness of March is not ideal for those who love flea markets and garage sales. There are a few sweet spots out there and the Shop With No Name in Middleburgh, NY is one of them. We found a treasure trove of fun. See the video below for some of our finds.

While March brings spurts of sunshine and tastes of spring to come, it does not provide many thrift fun spots. While Goodwill and the Salvation Army have some fun items, they do not tend to have a local flavor.

Postcards, newspapers and other papery bits contain the super fun finds we like at HTN. These are found at flea markets and garage sales in the boxes of old papers most people are apt to throw away.

History is found in these boxes and bags of papery stuff, and we love to save them from the rubbish heap!

Check out our latest video. Editor Kathy Jo Gallo shares some local finds from the Shop With No Name in Middleburgh, NY.

Thrift Haul For All the Pillows!

Did Someone Say Fabric?

One of the items we have in our shop are pine needle pillows. These come in a myriad of sizes and fabrics. We are always on the search for unique fabric that will work for our items.

We found some really fun fabrics this week to add to our stash! Keep an eye out for the upholstery weight fabric with some pretty lace edging!

After a thorough wash, we make them up with pine needle filler. The 3×3 size makes a wonderful, aroma filled, stress bag. Be sure to get them while they are there! We are constantly making up new stock so check back often!
