Sentimental moments can come at the strangest time and circumstance. My plan was to share my exciting box of treasures and show some of my super fun finds in this tangled box of goodies.
I was exploring the Livingstonville Flea Market on Sunday and came across a wonderful treasure trove box of costume jewelry. It was a tangled mess and as I was digging through it, trying to decide how I was going to choose from among the baubles, the vendor offered me a one price takes all deal that I happily accepted! She even held the box for me behind the tables so no one else would poke through it so I could explore the market further…which I happily did… finding a couple more treasures along the way.
I did a quick sort yesterday…the boys all digging in to see what treasures were in there and claiming a couple items for their stash (rosary for one, cool chain for another, burwood box for the third). Then it was off to use the laser printer at our local Tech Center so we could make some keychains for the shop.
Today was the first real sort…tough choosing just ten items to focus on listing in my Robbinswood Treasures shop! I got all the pictures set and then I found these….
They were obviously quite worn and as I slipped them over my finger to clean them up I just knew that someone had worn them every day, that they belonged together and that I was not going to sell them! I decided to place them in the box on my desk and set it up so I could take another photo and it seemed like the right spot for them today.
I stopped short in my work and cleaned them up…holding them up to the light and examining the worn edges wondering if they were worn together and how long the woman wearing them was married. Whatever it was I did not want to take them off even though they are too big for my hand. Someday I will find someone to gift them to who will cherish them as much as they were cherished by their first owner.
I may be just a little too sentimental for this treasure hunting gig! You never know what you will find exploring the back roads of Upstate NY!
Happy Memorial Day everyone!
