Upstate New York is home to the Empire State Trail. This 360 mile trail runs from Buffalo, NY to Albany, NY.
Pattersonville Parking
A small parking lot is available off of Route 5, at the western end of Rotterdam Junction. Equipped with a handy bike mount and tool stand, the lot also has some picnic space.
The trail crosses the main road here with a signal and crosswalk. The trail is accessible and wide enough for both bikes, joggers and those who like the slow walk.
This is a new 5 mile section of the trail. It opened in October of 2018 to much fanfare. Prior to the upgrade the trail followed the highway to Amsterdam.
April Scenes
April in upstate tends to bring some grey days but we were able to collect a few photos from our walk. The trail offers some beautiful cliffs overlooking the water, benches along the way and some pretty spots to stop and watch the water.
